Accommodation

Please, DO NOT BOOK any accommodation until the Final Acceptance Email has been sent to you (once the payment for the course has been confirmed).

We would like to inform you that the ISU course period in Bilbao is quite a busy time and that you may find it hard to find accommodation for those dates.

At the Final Acceptance Email we will be sending you some Accomodation Ideas. These are mere suggestions, so, of course, you are more than welcome to find any other accommodation that might better suit your interests.

  • Visa application

Please check if you need a visa to attend the course, read more about visa requirements in Spain here. Please bear in mind that citizens from any State of the European Union, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein only need a valid national identity document or passport to enter the Spain territory.

Citizens from the United Kingdom and Ireland will require a passport since the countries are not members of the Schengen Area.

Information for Non EU country visitors

For most delegates from Non EU countries a visa is required to enter Spain. In order to apply for a visa, the Spain embassy or the consulate in the home country needs to be contacted. The requirements may vary per country. Please contact the staff at the Spain Embassy of your home country for details.

Please check in time, as long as you follow visa procedure. The ISU19 does not take any resposnibility if you obtain your visa too late.

ISU19 invitation letter

The local organisers of the ISU19 can issue an invitation letter. This letter can only be issued upon payment of your course registration fee. Please do let us know through email (springuniversity@bc3research.org) should you need an invitation letter and we will provide you with one within a two week notice.

As the visa application process might be lengthy, we strongly advise you to do it in due time.

  • Blas de Otero Residence Hall

The Blas de Otero Residence Hall is another accommodation suggested by the International Spring University on Ecosystem Services Modeling. However, at this Residence we have not «pre-booked» any space and vailability would solely depend on the residence´s capacity. ISU 2019 can provide you with a 15% discount promotional code (code to be delivered at the Final Acceptance Email).

Key Information about the Residence Hall

Blas de Otero Residence Hall started functioning in the year 2004. It has a total of 216 places as well as various facilities for making your stay as comfortable as possible.

Blas de Otero Residence Hall will offer you 196 single rooms and 10 double rooms with a kitchen. All the rooms have their own bathroom, telephone, heating, computer connection with Internet access, television antenna and a satellite receiver. The residence hall also has special rooms, adapted for disabled people.

Rooms

A. Single rooms. A single room gives you the greatest independence within the residence hall. It has its own study room, bathroom and kitchen.
B. Double rooms. For those who like sharing everything and enjoy constant company; a room with a shared bathroom and kitchen.
C. Single rooms for double use. Single room with an extra bed.

The rooms are completely furnished, and include a pre-installed Internet access connection for personal computers and a telephone extension.

Services

  • Vending service. Food and drink vending machines.
  • Daily press. The residence hall is subscribed to the newspapers El País, El Correo, Deia and Berria.
  • Management and reception. Customer service hours are from Monday to Friday and from 9 am to 7 pm, at weekends and on holidays 24 hours a day. There will always be somebody at reception to help you.
  • Cleaning service of the common areas. The room is your responsibility but, if you want, you can optionally hire the weekly room cleaning service.
